Banjo Minnow Fishing Lure News, Success Stories, and Letters
August 2008
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEND US A STORY OR PICTURE, E-MAIL US AT wayne@banjominnow.com
Below are letters and e-mails from Banjo Minnow Fishermen/women. We get literally thousands of letters telling us of their success. It is impossible for us to print them all, but here are a few of the best.
Other Banjo fishermen/women love to hear about others success with the Banjo. Every Banjo fan shares the same secret. They bought it with great doubt or it was given to them. They didn't want anyone to see them using it at first, and then they were amazed to learn that the infomercial didn't lie, that the stories were true......the Banjo Minnow really will out fish any lure in existence today (except in murky or muddy water, then it is the same as other lures). All Banjo users take great glee in out fishing the "the experts who know its just another stupid TV lure"!

From: Shaun Shaver I recently purchased the Banjo minnow by request of my 4yr old son. The first cast produced this fish !! We caught 12 others that day using the Banjo minnow. Thank you so much for making fishing so easy for us. Regards, |

Subject: I caught the big one.....first day!
Hi Wayne, I couldn't wait to tell you my story. My Banjo 006 kit arrived a couple of days ago and yesterday I took my 9 year old son with me to test them out. We live on the Gold Coast in Australia, it is a tourist hotspot and lots of people out there fishing. Locals reckon the fish are getting to smart and have learnt what to eat and what not to. My mate is a scuba diver and he says that he watches many assorted baits and lures pass through massive schools of Trevally and Tailor without a single strike. I researched your product via the internet and there were a lot of sceptics, I also noticed that you guys had a lot of positive feedback on your site relating to good catches of Bass. There are Bass further up river from where we are but I like to fish along the "Rock Wall" at Southport where we target Trevally, Tailor, Queenfish, Tarpon or even Flathead. All predator fish and exciting to catch. I have tried everything, yabbies, worms, pilchards, soft plastics, metal slugs, surface poppers you name it. All I ever seem to catch is a few Bream on live yabbies and I've missed a few big Trevally, the treble hook is at the tail end of the metal lure and they seem to smash it head on and each time they spat it once I managed to reel them close enough in. The hook through the nose of the minnow is without a doubt a superior design.
I understood the concept of your bait and thought it would be worth a go. We first went to a little calm spot (saltwater) where we could practice. Shallow water, no structure, very few weed beds and not a lot of fish there. There were a couple of other guys using small soft plastics and they had no luck. We chose our first Banjo Minnow, a little 3inch to start us off. At first we didn't seem to have the right technique but we soon perfected it. After 15 or 20 casts......bingo! I watched as a small Flathead swooped on my dying minnow and was easily hooked up. We have only ever caught one other one there and have spent hours trying. AFTER JUST 10 MINUTES USING THE BANJO MINNOW WE HAD ONE. Test complete.
That night I grabbed a couple of 4 and 5 inch minnows (there's one that looks just like a Blue Pilchard) and I headed out on my own to the "Rock Walls". Again there were guys trying for hours with no luck. I fished with live yabbies for an hour and did not have a bite. I spun some metal lures and nothing! I grabbed my 6ft 6in fast action, graphite rod and 5 inch minnow and soon had that perfect action happening. It wasn't long before BANG.....and then SNAP.....and woosh!...as this huge Tailor jumps out of the water and smashes back down trying to remove the minnow from its jaws. Damn!... I lost it. I like to use braided line, it has no stretch and enhances the minnow action. Unfortunately with no heavy mono trace the razor sharp teeth of the Tailor chopped straight through my line. Wow! I thought these things really do work. I rigged up another this time with a nice heavy mono trace and wouldn't you believe it minutes later.....SMASH!... an even bigger one. The drag was set right and the fight was on, he leapt 3 or 4 times out of the water and after a huge fight I nursed him in only to realise I HAVE NEVER CAUGHT A FISH THIS BIG BEFORE, it was huge. There was a 2 to 3 foot drop off to reach it. I had no landing net or gaff (never caught anything big enough to need them) so the only way was to gently try and lift him up with the line.....As soon as his head was out of the water.....SMASH! see you later......he was gone. These are very big, mature and very clever predators......but the Banjo minnow fooled them. Like I said I have tried for many hours to catch one of these guys only to have the lure ignored. These "buggars" work, THEY ARE FANTASTIC, if you could offer me a job to travel Australia and sell them I would. But first of all I'm off to buy myself a good landing net and gaff before heading back out there tonight. Oohh!..Yes, I want to message you back and let you know I really did get him this time.
I have a whole new outlook now and look forward to work the magic of the minnow, obviously with the right technique the fish just find them too hard to resist. They are so much fun to fish with.
Thanks Wayne.

From: Sturm, Steve I moved from Pittsburgh PA to Greenville PA about 5 years ago in 2003. I had to change fishing styles from river fishing to lake fishing and have not been very successful fishing Lake Wilhelm in Goddard State Park. I caught this bass on my second cast using the banjo minnow, see the photo. I was so excited that I forgot to measure & weight him before I let him go. I caught him at 8:15 PM before the sun went down, so I only got 2 cast that day using the 5? long white with green banjo minnow. I will be going fishing tonight again using the banjo minnow & I have an all day fishing trip planned for Saturday the 30th, I am going to use the banjo minnow all day. Thank you very much, |

Dear Wayne,
This is my second time writing to you about the BANJO MINNOW!Because I can't stop telling you and my friends how good this bait is!Today we went to a pond and II caught 4 largemouth bass, and my dad caught 7 largemouth bass.On my first cast my line got messed up and only went 6 feet far in the pond pretty much right near my feet so I had to un tangle the line and then i started reeling it in cause I thought no use a fish ain't gonna bite right there,I barely realed and BOOM!At least and 3 pound bass hit!I threw that bass back in the pond and threw out the banjo again and a bass literally no joke jumped out of the water for the minnow! Now all the fish that we caught swimmed as fast as they could and pretty much swollowed it!Now we haven't been able to fish a lake yet, cause of work but when we do prepare for another great comment by my dad and I!

P.S.THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS AWESOME LURE,IT IS EXACTLY AS YOU SAID IN ADVERTISEMENTS!

Thank you so much for the DVD that came with the kit! It is a gem. Really well done, Wayne. I will watch it again and again just to see the fish take the lure!
I caught a nice trout with the lure in no time flat and am totally sold on them.It looks like I can give up using my old SDL (Sheer Dumb Luck) method of fishing that only brought occasional good results.
Thanks again,
Diane

i just want to tell you, that my experience with the banjo 006 minnow was amazing. i was so surprised when i used it. i just got it about a week ago and i have only been fishing about 4 times, but i never came home empty handed. i always had fish. it was so cool. my very first time using it i was with my girlfriend, she wanted to fish, so i put one on for her and she threw it out. i told her how to use it and then i threw mine out. we both had a fish on our first cast, two largemouth bass. it was so cool. she didn't want to touch the fish though so i had to take them both off the hook. we kept fishing, and kept catching fish until she had to go to work. we had lots of fun. thank you so much for the fun i have had.

Hi, I'm Mike and Im 12 years old and twenty minutes ago I caught a seven pound large mouth bass with the two inch white and green banjo minnow. My grandfather and I can't believe how life like the banjo minnow is. I mean I just got the minnow set today and I was just getting use to fishing this kind of bait. Ive been fishing since I was an infint and this summer I caught 259 fish like bluegill, bass, rainbowtrout, browntrout and catfish on my property, I live on an 18 acre tree form with two ponds and a little trout stream so I know a good bait when I see one and let me tell you the 006 banjo minnow is a awsome bait. P.S. sorry I don't have a picture because the bass swallowed the minnow and I had to find my pliers and she needed to be back in the water and my mom wouldn't let me make it a trophy and hang it in my room and once again I just want to say the banjo 006 minnow is a really really really great bait !!!

Subject: 120 fish
I received a call from my friend, and fishing buddy saying that he purchased the 006 Banjo Minnow. He was a sceptic, of course, but decided to go out to the farm pond we always fish to try it out. He was so impressed, and thrilled that he called me right back later that day to tell me about his success. We decided to visit the pond together the following weekend, and even in the hottest part of the day between the two us we caught 120 fish! This is absolutely no exaggeration. We counted them each time we pulled them in. We could tell that many we were pulling in had the signs that they had been caught before as they had holes in the sides of their mouths. We were using the 3in Diamond Flash Blue, and 3in Diamond Flash Cotton Candy lures. Now, when we fish if we do not pull in a fish at least every other cast we think it is a slow day. It’s just insane! I can honestly say that this lure has spoiled us, and we have even considered throwing all of our old lures away! Thank you Wayne for allowing the general public to experience and enjoy this amazing lure!

Subject: The big one
Dear Wayne,
My name is Brandon Jensen, I am 14 years old, and on Monday, August 12, 2008, I caught the biggest largemouth bass of my life here in maryland off of your Banjo 006 Minnow system. I was kind of skepticle about this lure and wanted to get it to try it, but my parents would not let me get the tv offer. So I got it at Bass Pro Shops. Now I am a beleiver. The bass was over 5 pounds. I have no pictures, but I caught it in a place where I have never caught many fish before.

Wayne, I'm sure your tired of hearing success stories, and this is the first I have ever written. I, like a lot of people, succumbed to your TV ad. It just didn't seem possible. I have just fifty yards from my back deck, a seven acre pond with the most educated bass in all of Missouri. I couldn't wait to give them a try. WHAM! Before I even launched the boat, I cast down the shore and caught my first Banjo Minnow Bass. That one hour tour around the lake produced 17 bass, some of which I am sure I had never caught before. I couldn't wait to try the Oxbows and Barrow pits off the Mississippi river. Wham! A repeat of my first experience. The next trip was to a small conservation lake with the same results. Next to Wappapello Lake (where I seldom catch quality bass) and Wham! best results I ever got at Wappapello AND with a three day cold front set in!
Your bait is truly everything you say it is. PS. My second order arrived today. Thanks for the excellent service.

Subject: MY FIRST BASS!
Dear Wayne, I recently received the 006 banjo minnow kit .I live in Newark NY with Seneca lake to my north but I'm close to the Erie canal. My wife and I went to Seneca Lake for lunch the day i got my minnows and I decided to go the lake to work on the skills of retrieve. Once I learned It, which was very easy I went back to the canal to a spot that I knew held bass! After years of throwing every bass lure i had and nothing to show for it i cast the 3 inch green minnow and my second cast landed me a 14 inch LARGE MOUTH BASS!!!!!!!!!!! .The next day I took my brother with me to show him what the 006 banjo can do and he was not impressed. He cast every bass minnow he had, and caught nothing while fishing beside him I pulled a 10inch large mouth and with my second cast pulled in in another 14 inch large mouth. He is now a believer and will be ordering soon. THIS IS THE BEST BASS LURE I HAVE EVER FISHED!!! IT IS TRUTHFULLY WHAT YOU SAID IT IS! AND I'M GRATEFUL FOR THE NEW EXPERIENCE THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! From: Bingham, Chris Wayne, my son and I received our minnow set Wed and we could not wait to try them out, we watched the video and we were on our way to our fishing hole. When we got to our hole it took us a little while to get the new reeling techniques down, once we got it WOW. We started pulling in the biggest fish we had ever caught and I was able to restore my sons faith in his old mans fishing ability. The lures are so great that we have already had a casualty. My son hooked a cat that was so big it snapped his 12 Pound test, he was so mad he jumped in and tried to snag the cat before it got away w/ his new banjo. Thank you for the awesome product, we are your new biggest fans and will be pushing the BANJO MINNOW”S everywhere we go. From the Bingham’s Ps. I attached a pic of the smallest Bass we caught. |

Subject: LOVE YOUR PRODUCT!!!
I purchased the Banjo MInnow Lure Set to see if it was really what it was made out to be. Against the will of my dad, I bought them and they really do work better than any other lure I have fished. I went out two days in a row for about 45 minutes apiece and caught 4 fish each time. I do have an interesting story to go with it. I was fishing it and I saw something in the water going after it. So I let it drop but nothing hit it. Once I brought it up to the shoreline, I saw a snapping turtle going after it. I let it sit and the turtle put it in it's mouth. I jerked and the turtle held onto one half of the bait, and I brought in the other half. I was so mad but I pulled out another minnow and caught three more bass in about ten casts. For the people who are skeptical about this bait, don't be.

Subject: Banjo Minnow
Hi, my name is Kyle and I am a buyer and believer of the Banjo 006 Minnow. The reason I am writing this because I need more detachable eyes and some more Minnows. I took my kit on our vacation to Wisconsin. We rented a cabin on the Minong Flowage. The Banjo Minnow caught so many bass and northern I couldn't believe it. The problem was, every time I had a big northern strike it near the top of the water where I could see it, I'd jerk it, and buy then it had already bitten straight through my line. I tried using every line from 6 pound to 20 pound Fireline. I lost every single eye I had and a lot of the minnow. So I got home and when online to see if I could get more eyes and more minnows, but I read that there was a password to get just eyes and just minnows. So I looked around and then I asked my mom where the rest of the package was, SHE THREW IT AWAY!!! So the whole reason I'm writing this is because I need the password to get more eyes and more Banjo 006 minnows. If you could send back the password, that would be great. To clarify that I really did buy a kit, here's my order number,
ORDER NO. 6253158-17
Please send back.
Sincerely,
Banjo Minnow Believer, Kyle

From: Steve Wayne, While in the Bass Pro shop in Atlanta, Georgia my son Stephen wanted me to purchase a banjo minnow 6000 for him. I was relucktent because I usually fish for bass with rubber worms. But to make him happy I purchased the banjo minnow 6000. We live on a 52 acre lake in Helen, Georgia. When we got home Stephen could not wait to try the banjo minnow. In less than 10 minutes he caught this 3 pound bass from the bank in our yard. Wow!! he made a believer out of me. This is a great and revolutionary bait that I highly recommend. |

Subject: THANK YOU
Hello Wayne,
I just wanted to drop a line and say thanks for the largest bass of my life so far. Last Friday my friend and i went on a fishing trip to Cottonwood Cove on Lake Mojave. my buddie had purchased the old banjo minnow system and wasn't keen on it. But I was really excited to receive a new set of lures. So he listened to me be excited, and I listened to him knock the Banjo Minnow. Needless to say it was my first trip out with my new Banjo Minnows, we were out about 30 min. and I had a white 5" minnow on and hooked my largest bass ever, an eight pound large mouth bass. I was so excited I hooped and hollard for a good twenty minutes. But one of the first things I said was to my buddie was"what were you saying about the banjo minnow." He was speechless and could only say "I stand corrected." So in closing I just wanted to say that you stuck to your slogan "CATCH THE BIG ONE" and I did.
Thank you, your satisfied customer

Just received my banjo minnow and quickly put it to the test.On my 4th cast I hooked the largest bass of my life. Cant tell you exactly how big it was but the tail fin must have been about 8 inches wide. I live in West Palm Beach FL. and love bass fishing. The hit was so violent I actually got scared I thought I might of hooked a gator(for real, lol) I was shocked to see this massive creature on the end of my line. I can honestly say that I did not control that bass, that bass controlled me. I will take my camera next time I go fishing. Never expected that.
